  • Our Society, founded 50 years ago, aims to unite all the descendants of the Beresford Family throughout the world.
  • We can often help to link up family pedigrees and our volunteer research team undertakes detailed studies into the historical origins of the Beresford family.
  • We publish books on Beresford history (including an excellent quarterly Magazine).
  • We also hold an enjoyable social gathering once a year for members and family, including tours of historic sites, many with Beresford connections.

The City of Chester

Chester, the County Town of Cheshire, long associated with the origins of the Beresford Family

Hoby Village and Church, Leicestershire

After one of the main branches of the Beresford Family moved from Beresford Dales, their descendants settled in the Parish of Hoby

There are many Beresford memorials in the Church

Curraghmore, Ireland

The magnificent home of our President, the Marquis of Waterford and his ancestors since 1170. The House, with its 2,500 acres estate and gardens, was visited by the Society at all three International Gatherings.

Chatsworth House

Visited in 2007. Its 1000 acre park was landscaped by ‘Capability’ Brown. The Duke of Devonshire has Beresford connections through Charles Cotton.

Hoby Village and Church, Leicestershire

The spiritual home of the Beresford Family, which usually has an annual visit and is on the wish list of every Beresford.

It contains the Beresford chapel, the shrouded tomb of Thomas (d.1473) and Agnes Beresford, who had 21 children. It contains family stained glass and memorial panels and coats of arms.

Crich Tramway Museum

 

As well as being the home of the National tramway Mueseum, Crich has a parish church which contains the tomb of Godfrey Beresford
